Live Your Dreams Iniative

Empowering Musicians and Children

The first artist Live Your Dreams sponsored was singer Mimi Ntenjwa with a day in Paris Studios in Fish Hoek to record her first demo. The demo landed Mimi a record deal with Loc'tion Jams and she released her debut album 'Essence Of My Soul' in 2007.

Mimi went on to be voted Best Young Jazz Artist at the Metro Fm Awards in 2008 and is continuing to go from strength to strength as a young SA musician.

Verity also awarded Mimi an INTEC bursary to study Marketting.

Beverly Buckley approached Verity after hearing about The Lucky Packet Project online and shared her dream of being a recording artist with her. Her passion and desire to also use her music as a platform to raise awareness for causes she believes in.

The Live Your Dreams iniative paid for Beverly to record her demo 'Always' with Paul McIver at Toneworks in Johannesburg - the very same producer who produced 'Journey' for Verity.

In 2010 Verity was approached by a fan to try and help a young Kwaito artist in Johannesburg - King Smash. He works full time as a security guard to provide for his family and in his time off has managed to write, produce and record his debut album 'Smash Da Door'.

The Live Your Dreams iniative has sponsored him a website to help me market his music more effectively. Verity designed and hosts the site for King Smash.

In 2009 Verity was approached by Reach For A Dream to help a young girl Lize reach her dream of being a singer. Verity wrote her a song about her dog 'Julie'. Producer Selwyn Shandel of Indigi Productions donated a day of studio to the project and worked with Verity to produce the song.

Lize's 'Song For Julie' saw Lize spend two days with Verity - learning the song and then going into studio and record it. The song was played on Tygerberg Radio on Lize's birthday and Animal Talk Magazine featured a two page article about the song written for a very special jack russell.

A video of the project was aired at the Reach For A Dream Gala Dinner at the end of 2009 as an example of the incredible work they do to help children with life threatening illnesses.

In 2010 - 2011 Verity again teamed up with Reach For A Dream to write and produce a song with Selwyn Shandel for a young girl Anle suffering from AT Syndrome.

'My Favourite Things' is a song about everything Anle loves and she and her mum got to spend a day in studio seeing what it's like to be a real life 'pop star'.

A video of the experience and off all Anle's favourite things and people was put together as a way to remember her getting to reach her dream.

In 2006 Verity and Nelson teamed up with Selwyn Shandel to write a song for a SABC2 documentary 'Our Stories, Our Voices'. The worked with four girls from Atlantis and director Lungiswa Sithole to write a song that reflected their experiences of growing up in Atlantis and surviving abusive situations.

The song 'Our Stories, Our Voices' focussed on the effect of Tik in their community and went on to be played on Atlantis Radio. The documentary was flighted on SABC2 in 2006.
